Masked Men,Midnight Arrest!”-NPP Blasts NDC Over Abduction of Wontumi Journalist

The New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Communications Directorate has unleashed a scathing attack on the NDC government after the dramatic arrest of Wontumi Media journalist Emmanuel Kofi Kwakye, popularly known as Akyɛmkwaa Nana.

According to the NPP, masked men believed to be National Security operatives stormed in Gestapo-style, snatching the broadcaster without explanation.

The party describes the act as “a shameful, calculated assault on democracy”, accusing the NDC of unleashing fear to silence media voices that hold them accountable.

    The NPP Demands:
Release him now-or charge him in court without delay.

Explain to Ghanaians why state power is being abused.

Stop the witch-hunt against journalists and critics.

“This is how dictatorships are born,” the statement warns. “We will resist any attempt to drag Ghana back into the shadows.”

The NPP is calling on civil society, the media, the diplomatic community, and all defenders of freedom to join the fight against what it calls a dangerous slide into tyranny.
