The blame game inside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a dramatic turn, with Kwadaso MP Prof. Kingsley Nyarko fiercely rejecting attempts to pin the party’s 2024 electoral defeat on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking during one of Dr. Bawumia’s constituency executives engagements in the Ashanti Region, Prof. Nyarko launched a blistering counterattack, describing the accusations as “baseless, senseless, and politically lazy.”

“I will never agree with anyone who says Bawumia caused our defeat. That claim makes absolutely no sense!” he thundered to loud applause.

The outspoken lawmaker pointed to the NPP’s catastrophic loss of parliamentary seats as evidence that the party’s defeat was a collective failure, not the fault of one man.

The NPP, which went into the elections with 138 parliamentary seats, saw its numbers crash to 87, one of the steepest declines in the party’s history.

“If we had maintained our 138 seats and still lost, then maybe you could argue. But dropping all the way to 87, and you still blame one man? That’s not logic—it’s political laziness!” he lashed out.

Prof. Nyarko also took aim at what he called “opportunistic critics,” accusing them of being silent when things looked promising, only to emerge after defeat with sharp tongues.

Those pointing fingers today would have been the first to lobby for ministerial appointments if we had won. Their hypocrisy is shameful,” he charged.

Despite the painful electoral setback, the Kwadaso MP delivered a message of hope and defiance, insisting that the NPP can turn its reduced parliamentary strength into a surprise weapon in 2028.

“God will use these 87 seats to shame the so-called majority in the next election. Mark my words-the story is not over!” he declared.

In a passionate closing statement, Prof. Nyarko pledged unwavering loyalty to Dr. Bawumia and his presidential ambition.

“I, Kingsley Nyarko, stand by you, Dr. Bawumia. I will remain with you until you become President of this country. There is no turning back”

With tensions already running high in the NPP over leadership and accountability, Prof. Nyarko’s fiery intervention has deepened the internal debate-setting the stage for an even more dramatic political showdown in the months ahead.
