Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo urges pastors to focus on salvation, not material wealth, during Obuasi induction service

The immediate past Archbishop of the Anglican Church, Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, has issued a stern warning to young and upcoming ministers of God to desist from chasing wealth, fame, and worldly pleasures, stressing that their divine calling is to preach salvation and lead souls to Christ.
The Archbishop made this passionate appeal during the induction service of Rev. Emmanuel Amoako Okyere as the new General Overseer of Triumphant Church International in Obuasi over the weekend.
Delivering his sermon, Dr.Yinkah Sarfo expressed deep concern over the growing number of ministers who treat the church as a means of personal enrichment rather than a sacred platform for service to humanity. He described such attitudes as a direct contradiction of Christ’s teachings, warning that they could lead to spiritual downfall and loss of integrity within the ministry.
“The gospel is not about money or material gain,” he emphasized. “Preaching salvation is the core mandate of every Christian, especially those called into ministry. Using the name of Christ for personal wealth is a betrayal of our divine calling.”
He further reminded ministers that true ministry is built on humility, obedience, and service, not luxury or competition. According to him, leadership in the church must be rooted in servanthood and selflessness, following the example of Jesus Christ.
“We are called to serve, not to be served. When we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, He will exalt us in due time. But when pride takes over, we fall from grace,” he stated.
Citing 1 Peter 5:5–6, the Archbishop urged ministers to cultivate humility in all aspects of their lives and ministries, reminding them that God gives grace only to the humble.
He also appealed to congregants to support their pastors with prayer, love, and cooperation, stressing that the growth of the church depends on unity and mutual respect between clergy and members.
The well attended ceremony drew church dignitaries, local clergy, and representatives from various Christian denominations, all gathered to witness and celebrate the new phase of leadership at Triumphant Church International.
In his acceptance remarks, Rev. Emmanuel Amoako Okyere expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and the congregation for their confidence in him, pledging to uphold the principles of truth, humility, and service in his pastoral duties.
The event concluded with special prayers for the new leader, the church, and all ministers of the gospel across Ghana, asking for divine guidance and strength in their calling.
Meanwhile, the Immediate Past Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. N. B. Abubakar, also addressed the gathering, urging Christians to remain prayerful, attentive to God’s voice, and committed to living moral lives as faithful followers of Christ.
