As the year 2025 steadily draws to a close, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command has launched intensified residential and community patrols across the region to ensure a peaceful transition into the New Year, without the recurrence of criminal activities often associated with festive periods.

The enhanced security operation forms part of proactive measures by the Police to safeguard lives and property, particularly as many residents travel, attend social gatherings, and participate in religious activities during the end-of-year celebrations.
Speaking on behalf of the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, during a press briefing held at Ashanti Bekwai, ACP Cephas Arthur explained that the residential patrol initiative is aimed at preventing crime, deterring criminal elements, and boosting public confidence in the Police Service.

According to ACP Cephas Arthur, special attention is being given to residential areas, major streets, highways, and identified crime-prone zones within the region. He noted that both foot and mobile patrol teams have been deployed and will operate around the clock throughout the festive period.

He urged members of the general public to complement police efforts by remaining vigilant and adopting basic personal and property security measures. In particular, he advised Christians attending 31st Watch Night church services to secure their homes before leaving, avoid carrying large sums of money, and cooperate with security personnel stationed at various worship centres.

ACP Cephas Arthur further issued a stern warning to criminals and individuals contemplating robbery, theft, or any form of unlawful activity during the Watch Night services, stating that the Police Command has put adequate security arrangements in place and will deal decisively with anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace.

He assured residents that the Police Service remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and will not hesitate to enforce the law without fear or favour. He also called on the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through established emergency channels.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has therefore appealed to residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the year 2025 ends peacefully and that the New Year begins in a safe and secure environment for all.
