Atwima Kwanwoma Gets Major Education, Healthcare Boost as DCE Launches Three Key Projects

Communities to benefit from new classroom blocks and CHPS facility as contractors are given eight-month deadline

The Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly has taken a major step towards addressing infrastructure needs in the education and healthcare sectors following the commencement of three major development projects across the district.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has cut the sod for the projects at separate ceremonies held within the district, officially handing over the sites to contractors to begin construction.
The projects, which are expected to be completed within eight months, are targeted at improving the learning environment for pupils and students while strengthening access to basic healthcare services in beneficiary communities.
Three Projects, Three Communities.
The projects comprise the construction of a two-unit classroom block for Foase Methodist Basic School, which will be executed by Franca Limited.
At Afrancho, work is also set to begin on a CHPS Compound with nurses’ quarters, to be constructed by Ogreigns Company Limited in collaboration with Time Up Construction and Trading Enterprise.
The third project is the construction of a three-unit classroom block for Anum Asamoah Senior High School, which has been awarded to Teckman Construction.
Addressing chiefs, community members, contractors and officials of the Assembly during the various sod-cutting ceremonies, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah said the projects reflect the government and Assembly’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and healthcare.
She explained that providing adequate infrastructure remains critical to creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning, as well as bringing essential healthcare services closer to residents.
DCE Sets Eight-Month Target
Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah charged the contractors to mobilise to site and work diligently to ensure that all three projects are completed within the agreed eight-month timeframe.
She cautioned them against compromising on the quality of materials and workmanship in their quest to meet the deadline.
According to the DCE,the Assembly would closely monitor the projects to ensure that taxpayers receive value for money.
Local Employment
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the DCE urged the contractors to give priority to residents of the beneficiary communities when recruiting both skilled and unskilled workers.
She said employing local residents during the construction period would create temporary job opportunities, increase household incomes and allow the projects to contribute directly to the local economy.
Hon. Agyemang Asamoah also appealed to residents to take ownership of the projects by protecting construction materials, equipment and other resources at the sites.
She called on community members to cooperate with the contractors and report any suspicious activities that could undermine the successful implementation of the projects.
“Development is a shared responsibility, and we must all work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Atwima Kwanwoma District,” she emphasised.
Contractors Assure Assembly
The contractors, in separate remarks, expressed appreciation to the District Assembly for the confidence reposed in them.
They assured the DCE, Assembly officials and residents that they would deploy the necessary resources to deliver quality projects within the stipulated period.
They also pledged to maintain close collaboration with traditional authorities, community leaders, the Assembly and other stakeholders throughout the construction process.
Communities Welcome Projects
Community leaders welcomed the projects, describing them as timely interventions that would address pressing infrastructure needs in their respective communities.
They expressed gratitude to the Government and the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly for responding to their concerns and assured the contractors of their cooperation throughout the construction period.
The District Chief Executive was accompanied by the District Engineer, Mr. Bartholomew Amponsah, and other officials of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, who witnessed the ceremonies and formally handed over the project sites to the contractors.
The commencement of the three projects marks another significant intervention by the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly towards improving educational infrastructure, expanding access to basic healthcare and enhancing the overall socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
With an eight-month completion target now set, residents of Foase, Afrancho and Anum Asamoah will be looking forward to seeing the projects completed and put to use for the benefit of their communities.
