The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has paid an unannounced inspection visit to the Agenda 111 Hospital project at Trede, as part of efforts to ensure that the facility remains in good condition while steps are being taken towards its operationalisation.

The surprise inspection was aimed at assessing the current state of the hospital, particularly the cleanliness and general condition of the facility, while ensuring that the government’s investment is properly protected from deterioration, vandalism and other forms of damage.

During the visit, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah toured the hospital compound and inspected its surroundings to ascertain whether earlier directives on maintaining a clean and orderly environment were being adhered to.

Although the doors to the various sections of the facility were locked at the time of the inspection, the DCE undertook a thorough assessment of the exterior of the hospital and its immediate surroundings.

She expressed satisfaction with the general state of cleanliness but emphasised the need for continuous maintenance to preserve the facility until it is fully operational.

According to her, allowing a completed public facility to deteriorate before it begins serving its intended purpose would amount to a waste of valuable public resources.

The DCE subsequently interacted with security personnel and labourers stationed at the project site, commending them for their efforts in maintaining and protecting the facility.

She, however, urged them to remain vigilant and ensure that the hospital is adequately protected against theft, vandalism and any other activities that could compromise the integrity of the facility.

Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah noted that the Trede Agenda 111 Hospital represents a significant government investment intended to improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Trede, Atwima Kwanwoma and surrounding communities.

She therefore charged all persons responsible for safeguarding the facility to take their duties seriously until the hospital is finally opened to the public.

    DCE to Engage Health Minister

As part of efforts to move the project from its current state to full operation, the DCE disclosed that she would brief the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on the condition of the facility.

She said the engagement would focus on identifying practical steps required to facilitate the commencement of operations at the hospital.

Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah reaffirmed her determination to work closely with the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the facility is put to its intended use.

She stressed that the people of Atwima Kwanwoma and neighbouring communities deserve access to quality healthcare and that every effort must therefore be made to ensure that the hospital serves its intended purpose.

“Governance is a continuous process and it is our responsibility to ensure that public investments are protected and utilised for the benefit of our people,” the DCE stated.

The inspection forms part of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly’s broader efforts to monitor government projects within the district, protect public infrastructure and ensure value for money.

Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah was accompanied by selected officials of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly during the inspection.
