Atwima Yabi Set to Emerge as Tourism Hub with Commissioning of Ultra-Modern Fofie Resort

Atwima Yabi, a serene community in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, is on the brink of a remarkable transformation following the commissioning of the ultra-modern Fofie Resort,a landmark private investment poised to redefine the area’s socio-economic landscape.
The facility, strategically located along a scenic dam in the community, was commissioned on Sunday, February 22, 2026, by the Chief of Yabi, Nana Kontomire Kwame Frimpong Ababio. Although the resort is yet to be officially opened to the public, the ceremony attracted hundreds of enthusiastic residents and visitors from neighbouring communities, highlighting the high expectations surrounding the project.
*A Colourful Ceremony Rich in Culture and Optimism*

The commissioning ceremony was marked by vibrant traditional drumming and dancing, captivating cultural performances, and an inspection tour of the nearly completed facility. The atmosphere mirrored that of a mini festival, reflecting the pride, hope, and anticipation shared by the people of Atwima Yabi.

In his address, Nana Kontomire Kwame Frimpong Ababio described the Fofie Resort as a strategic development initiative aimed at bringing sustainable progress closer to the people. He stressed that beyond leisure and recreation, the project represents a bold intervention to address unemployment and stimulate economic growth within the community.
“This project is not just about recreation; it is about economic empowerment and community transformation,” the Chief emphasized.
*Driving Job Creation and Local Economic Growth*
According to the Chief, the resort is designed to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth and indigenes of Atwima Yabi and its surrounding communities.
When fully operational, the facility is expected to create jobs in hospitality management, catering services, event hosting, security services, maintenance, and administration.
Beyond formal employment, the ripple effects are projected to benefit local farmers, fishermen, traders, transport operators, and artisans who will experience increased commercial activity driven by visitor traffic and event hosting.
Stakeholders believe the project will stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises, enhance livelihoods, and strengthen the local economic base of the community.
*Modern Water-Based Attractions to Boost Tourism*
A major highlight of the Fofie Resort is its investment in modern water-based recreational facilities.
These include BBQ boats, yachts, and other state-of-the-art leisure equipment designed to offer visitors a unique and memorable experience on the dam.
The introduction of these attractions is expected to distinguish Atwima Yabi from other emerging leisure destinations within the district. The Chief expressed confidence that the facility will attract tourists not only from the Kumasi metropolis but also from other parts of the Ashanti Region and beyond.
*Positioning Atwima Yabi on the Tourism Map*
Once officially opened, the Fofie Resort is projected to significantly boost tourism revenue within the district and contribute meaningfully to the broader development of the Ashanti Region.
Observers note that the resort could serve as a catalyst for further investments in hospitality, real estate, and supporting infrastructure, positioning Atwima Yabi as a destination of choice for leisure, relaxation, and events.
With final touches currently underway, anticipation continues to build ahead of the grand opening. If expectations are anything to go by, the Fofie Resort is set to firmly establish Atwima Yabi as an emerging tourism hub and a shining example of community-driven development in the Ashanti Region.
