Christmas Is Not a Joke-It Is God’s Intervention in Human History

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost Worldwide, Apostle Kwabena Nyamekye, has admonished Christians not to trivialize Christmas or reduce it to a mere end-of-year holiday, but to celebrate it as a sacred moment that marks God’s decisive intervention in human history.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, Christmas serves as a profound reminder that God came down in the person of Jesus Christ to save humanity from its broken condition. Referencing Romans 5:12, he explained that the entrance of sin into the world introduced humanity’s three principal enemies, sin, death, and Satan, which continue to fuel violence, lawlessness, and the breakdown of moral values in society.

He further recalled the prophecy of Zachariah before the birth of Christ, noting that the coming Messiah would rescue humanity so that people could serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness, all the days of their lives. Jesus Christ, he emphasized, came to deliver mankind from the dominion of darkness and restore humanity’s capacity to live holy lives before God.

Quoting renowned revivalist Leonard Ravenhill, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted the transforming power of Christ, saying:
“The greatest miracle that God can do today is to take an unholy man out of an unholy world and make him holy, then put him back into that unholy world and keep him holy in it.”

He therefore urged Christians to observe Christmas with deep reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to holy living, recognizing it as the foundation of humanity’s redemption rather than just a festive season.
