JASTECH @35: Headmaster Appeals for Fence Wall as Alumnus Pledges to Construct Access Road
School authorities highlight security and infrastructure challenges while stakeholders rally support for development at anniversary launch.

The Headmaster of Jacobu Senior High Technical School (JASTECH) in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Joseph Justice Osei Krah, has made a strong appeal to the government, old students, corporate institutions, and other stakeholders to support the school with critical infrastructure, particularly the construction of a protective fence wall around the campus.
According to the headmaster, the absence of a fence wall poses serious security concerns for both students and staff, making the campus vulnerable to intrusion and theft.
He explained that fencing the school would not only protect school property but also ensure a safer and more disciplined learning environment that promotes academic excellence.
Mr.Osei Krah also drew attention to other pressing infrastructural challenges confronting the school, including the abandoned dining hall project and insufficient educational facilities to accommodate the growing student population.
He noted that completing the dining hall and expanding infrastructure would significantly improve students’ welfare and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The headmaster made the appeal during the official launch of the school’s 35th anniversary celebration, held at the school park under the theme:
“35 Years of Empowering Generations through Academic Excellence, Discipline and Creativity: The Role of Stakeholders.”
The colourful event brought together traditional authorities, heads of educational institutions, dignitaries, alumni, and community members who gathered to celebrate the achievements and growth of the institution over the years.
As part of activities marking the anniversary launch, the headmaster also advised students to maintain discipline and avoid behaviours that could damage the reputation of the school.
He urged them to act as responsible ambassadors of the institution both within and outside the campus.
In a major boost to the school’s development agenda, a 2017 alumnus of the school, Mr. Benjamin Oppong, popularly known as Benito and Chief Executive Officer of Benito Engineering and Mining Company, announced his pledge to construct the road from the school’s entrance to the main campus.
Mr. Oppong explained that the poor condition of the access road has long been a major challenge for students and teachers, especially during the rainy season.
He indicated that constructing the road would improve accessibility, enhance safety, and contribute significantly to the development of the school.
Addressing the students, he also cautioned them against engaging in examination malpractice, stressing that such actions could lead to the cancellation of examination results and damage the reputation of the school.
He encouraged them to remain focused on discipline, hard work, and integrity in their academic journey.
Students who attended the event expressed appreciation to their old students for their continuous support, mentorship, and guidance, acknowledging the vital role alumni have played in the growth and development of the school.
The 35th anniversary celebration of Jacobu Senior High Technical School is expected to feature a series of activities aimed at strengthening alumni relations, mobilising support for infrastructure development, and promoting the continued progress of the institution.
On his part, Nana Fosu Kwadwo Abiri II, Chief of Jacobu in the Amansie Central District, advised students to take their education seriously and see themselves as the future leaders of the country.
He cautioned them against engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) and other negative activities that could jeopardise their future and the development of the nation.
The chief further pledged the full support of the Jacobu
Traditional Area to the school and assured the authorities of his readiness to allocate land for agricultural initiatives that would support the school’s development and sustainability.
