The Advancement Of Society Is Facilitated By Education-Hon Alfred Obeng Boateng:

The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng has reiterated the need for parents to cater for their wards effectively at the Senior High School.

This was espoused in a speech delivered at the SRC Week observed by Queens Senior High School under the theme “Educating the girl child; the gateway to greater heights.” The MP outlined his achievements in Education, Health, Roads, Employment, and other sectors of the economy.

On the need for education, he emphasized that education can contribute to national development. Citing James Kwegyire Aggrey, he pointed out that if you educate a man, you educate an individual but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation. Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng continued that girl child education matters in building a meaningful and vibrant society. He added that educating the girl child will eliminate child marriage and superstitious beliefs. According to the MP educating females will promote good health through personal hygiene. The girls were finally encouraged to prepare themselves for the various job opportunities. He also expressed appreciation to the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, and Vice President H. E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the implementation of the free SHS policy which has reduced the burden on parents. Ghs5,000.00 was donated by the MP towards the programme.

The MCE Hon Paul Andoh expressed appreciation to the school for the invitation. The MCE pleaded with the students to study hard to come out with flying colours. They were also cautioned to live morally upright lives since the government and parents have invested so much into their education. The students were reminded to vote massively for the NPP presidential candidate and MPs for the sustenance of the free SHS policy. The MCE donated GHS1,000 towards the programme.

The Assistant Headmistress of Administration, Mrs. Theodora Osabu commended the dignitaries for honouring their invitation and requested support for the completion of the school wall, recruitment of additional non-teaching staff, and construction of teachers’ bungalows.
