Police Raid Brothel at Manso Watreso; Nigerian Suspect Arrested, Others on the Run

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities following a successful raid on a suspected brothel at Manso Watreso in the Ashanti Region.
According to an official press release dated April 20, 2026, the operation was carried out on April 19 by the Manso Nkwanta Police, acting on credible intelligence regarding illicit activities at the facility.
The police arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian woman identified as Esther Egbuhama, who is believed to be the owner and operator of the brothel, popularly known as Mama Nice Lodge. The facility, located in Manso Watreso, had reportedly become a hub for illegal operations.
Authorities disclosed that although the main suspect was apprehended, several accomplices and other individuals linked to the activities at the location managed to escape during the operation.
The arrested suspect has since been taken into custody at Manso Nkwanta, where she is assisting police with ongoing investigations and is expected to face prosecution.
In the statement, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command reiterated that the operation of brothels is a criminal offence under Section 277 (as substituted by N.L.C.D 398, paragraph 16) of Ghana’s laws. The Command emphasized its commitment to sustaining periodic intelligence-led operations to clamp down on criminal networks and restore order in the region.
“The Police will not relent in efforts to rid the region of all miscreants engaged in such unlawful acts,” the statement stressed.
The Command also called on the public to support law enforcement efforts by volunteering timely and credible information to help combat crime within their communities.
The press release was signed by the Ashanti South Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba.
