Ashanti Regional Minister Welcomes Public Accounts Committee for Zonal Sittings
Exercise to scrutinize Auditor-General’s Report and boost accountability across public institutions

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, has officially received the leadership and members of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as they begin zonal sittings in the region aimed at strengthening financial accountability in public institutions.
The delegation, led by the Committee’s Chairperson, Abena Osei-Asare, and the Ranking Member, Samuel Atta-Mills, included committee members, clerks, and staff of the PAC Secretariat. They were received at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) earlier today.

The visit marks the commencement of the Committee’s zonal sittings in the Ashanti Region, where attention will be focused on examining findings contained in the Auditor-General’s Report. The exercise will also assess how Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as other public institutions, are implementing recommendations outlined in the report.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the President, John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Amoakohene assured the Committee of the region’s full cooperation and support to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.
He emphasized the importance of the PAC’s work, noting that its oversight responsibilities play a vital role in promoting transparency, strengthening financial discipline, and restoring public trust in state institutions.

The zonal sittings are expected to bring together key stakeholders from various public institutions across the region, providing a platform for accountability and corrective action where necessary.
