Chiefs and Fix Amansie west Alliance cuts sod for construction of two ultramodern police posts

To address the increasing crime rate and ensure peace and security at Amansie West and its environs, the pressure group in the Amansie west district “called Fix west Alliance and traditional leaders in the area today
have cut sod for the construction of an two ultra-modern police post at Ahwerewa and Wioso – seidi highway to improve security on the stretch.

The two projects , which is estimated at the cost of Gh¢80,000 is expected to be completed in four months and will include other facilities such as office and washrooms.

Addressing the gathering at a groundbreaking ceremony, the president of Fix Amansie west Alliance, Emmanuel Osei Odehye Bonsu said they took the charity initiative because there was no police posts to serve officers on duty.
He said they have observed with regret that the police personnel who were deploy to protect lives and properties on the stretch sat under palm nut trees which exposed them to the vagaries of the sun and were sometimes beaten by rain.

According to him, he also observed the frustrations the police officers went through on a daily basis to provide security.

He expressed the hope that the provision of the facility would help improve the work of the police in the area, explaining that the police were stationed on the stretch to protect lives and property and should be supported to enhance their services.

He said, investing in the facility to make the personnel at the post feel comfortable to conduct their mandatory responsibilities.

Speaking to media in an interview at the short sod cutting ceremony to begin the project, This is what
the president of Fix Amansie west Alliance, Emmanuel Osei Odehye Bonsu had to say

The Nkawie District Police Commander, Superintendent Badu Poku thanked Fix Amansie west Alliance group for recognising the plight of police officers stationed on the stretch and providing them with a befitting security post.

He said the existence of a security post on the stretch would enhance security, since the area required maximum security.

He said the facility to make the personnel at the post feel comfortable to conduct their mandatory responsibilities.

Superintendent Badu poku explained that the completion of the security post would also help deter criminals from committing crimes in the area and appealed to the contractor to speed up work.

He said police in the district had intensified their patrol and activities to combat all forms of crimes, in order to make the area safe for residents.

The Chief of Tetrem Nana Akwasi koh ll who initially donated 100 bags of cement to support the project also appealed to the residents, particularly those living around the project area to give their maximum support to workers to produce quality work and meet the deadline.

Nana, therefore, appealed to government, NGOs and everyone to support him to build the police posts in record time.

He added that government alone cannot do everything and therefore appealed to all and sundry to come on board to support communities for better growth.
