BIG PUSH BOOST: GOVERNMENT TO PAY ROAD CONTRACTORS ON TIME- AGBODZA

Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has reassured road contractors across the country that they will receive timely payments under the government’s renewed infrastructure initiative, the Big Push Programme.

Speaking before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr. Agbodza indicated that his ministry is working aggressively to clear outstanding arrears and streamline payment systems to eliminate undue delays.

According to him, the government is prioritising actual prompt disbursement of funds, explaining that this approach makes the inclusion of rigid contract clauses on payment timelines less critical.

The minister further commended Parliament for facilitating the release of funds to settle arrears, revealing that the ministry has already made notable progress in reducing debts owed to contractors.

The Big Push Programme is a major government drive aimed at fast-tracking national infrastructure development through strategic investment in roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and energy projects.
