Celebrated Broadcaster ‘Kolacity’ Enstooled as Anuwoho Chief, Sworn In as Otumfoo Bosomprakumahene

Prophet Opambour’s close associate and renowned broadcaster Dominic Kwabena Owusu, popularly known as Kolacity and now Nana Kwarfo III,pledges to champion unity,cultural heritage and community development after assuming dual traditional leadership roles.

Renowned Ghanaian broadcast journalist Dominic Kwabena Owusu,popularly known in media circles as Kolacity, has officially been sworn into office as the Otumfoo Bosomprakumahene and formally installed as the Chief of Anuwoho,popularly known as Apatrapa Pokukrom,in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region. He will henceforth be known by his stool name, Nana Kwarfo III.
The historic swearing-in ceremony was held on Thursday,July 30,2026,at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the seat of the Asante Kingdom,where traditional rites were performed in accordance with the customs and traditions of Asanteman.
The colourful ceremony attracted eminent chiefs,queen mothers,traditional elders,family heads,media personalities,opinion leaders,friends and well-wishers, who gathered to witness the official induction of Nana Kwarfo III into his new traditional responsibilities.
The ceremony symbolised the confidence reposed in the respected broadcaster by the traditional authorities to uphold the values,customs and dignity of the Golden Stool while serving faithfully as both Otumfoo Bosomprakumahene and Chief of Anuwoho.
The elevation of Nana Kwarfo III marks a significant transition from years of distinguished service in the media to a new chapter of traditional leadership,where he is expected to champion peace-building,cultural preservation,conflict resolution and community development.
As Chief of Anuwoho and Otumfoo Bosomprakumahene,Nana Kwarfo III is expected to work closely with traditional authorities,residents and other stakeholders to promote unity,mobilise development initiatives and strengthen the socio-economic growth of Apatrapa Pokukrom and its surrounding communities.
Speaking in an interview with DailyWatchGH.com after taking the oath of office,Nana Kwarfo III expressed profound appreciation to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,the Asantehene, the kingmakers, elders and the people for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to discharge his duties with humility,honesty,integrity and fairness,stressing that his leadership would be guided by service,accountability and the collective interest of the people.
“I remain committed to working with every stakeholder to ensure that our community enjoys peace,unity and sustainable development while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Asante Kingdom,”he stated.
He further appealed to the youth,residents,development partners and all stakeholders to support the traditional leadership in advancing the progress of Anuwoho and creating opportunities for future generations.
Several dignitaries who attended the ceremony congratulated Nana Kwarfo III on his elevation,describing the honour as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to Ghana’s media landscape and his commitment to public service.
They expressed confidence that his wealth of experience,leadership qualities and ability to unite people would significantly contribute to the growth and development of the traditional area.
The ceremony was characterised by colourful displays of Asante culture,including traditional drumming,dancing and the performance of customary rites,underscoring the rich heritage and enduring traditions of the Asante Kingdom.
The swearing-in of Nana Kwarfo III at the Manhyia Palace is expected to usher in a new era of visionary leadership,stronger community cohesion and accelerated development for the people of Anuwoho (Apatrapa Pokukrom),while further strengthening the institution of chieftaincy within Asanteman.
