Techimanhene formerly Bonohene is occupant of the oldest stool (Bonokyempem Duaduakwa stool) in the history of Akans. For that matter he is given the title Akan Piesie.

His stool was originally established c. 1295 AD by Bonohene Nana Asaman, founder of medieval Bono Empire.

Techimanhene belongs to the Oyoko clan.
He is affectionately regarded as the Oyoko Piesie.

Techiman are the first Oyoko clan that settled in the Amowi caves ( Bon mu ) in present day Nkoranza area after their migration from Koumbi Saleh. When they crossed the black Volta, they lived and dwelt in Caves around that region.

Techiman is the first centralized Akan state. Civilization in Akan began from Techiman.

The Techiman people is believed to have founded Bono manso, presumably present day Nkoranza area, Yefiri near Amoma.

Bono manso was the capital city of the medieval Bono Empire that was first established by Akans (Techimans) after migrating from the old Ghana Empire that existed 830 AD in Mali & Sudan enclave.

All Akans once originated from the Medieval Bono Empire. It was their first place of dwelling in modern day Ghana after migrating all the way from the old Ghana empire.

Akans that separated from the medieval Bono Empire to establish their new states are Fante, Denkyira, Wassa, Ahanta, Asante, Akyem, Adansi, Agni, Akwamu , Nzema, Sehwi, Chokosi and many more….

The medieval Bono Empire was the genesis and cradle of all Akan ethnicity living in Ghana and beyond.

They all gathered and sojourned in Bono under one umbrella as an empire before migrating to their current location.

Bono means edikanfo..As the Akan talking drum may sound, Bono firi tete, Bono kyempem dueduakwa, Bono firi tete, Bono ne Akan piesie, Bono kan kan kan !!!!

They are the first Akan tribe that settled in Gold Coast modern day Ghana after departing from old Ghana empire.
