Two Students Shot at Adventist SHS in Ashanti Region

A disturbing incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, when two students were seriously injured in a shooting incident on campus.

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the school community and raised concerns about student safety.

According to reliable sources within the school, the incident occurred during break time when Bernard Amoabeng, a form two student, brought a gun to school.

An argument reportedly ensued among the students over whether the weapon was functional. In an attempt to prove its functionality, Amoabeng allegedly fired the gun, accidentally shooting and injuring two students.

One of the victims, Penamang, sustained a critical gunshot wound to her forehead. She was initially rushed to Kwadaso Hospital but was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital due to the severity of her condition. The second victim’s identity and condition have not been disclosed.

The Suame Police have arrested Amoabeng and initiated a full investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to determine how the student obtained the gun and what led to the altercation.

The incident has raised concerns about student safety and the presence of firearms on school campuses. The school administration and local authorities are cooperating to ensure that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School community is in shock, and students, parents, and staff are coming to terms with the incident. Counseling services have been made available to students affected by the incident.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring student safety and well-being on school campuses. It also highlights the need for increased awareness and education about the dangers of firearms and conflict resolution.

As the investigation continues, the school community and local authorities are working together to provide support to the victims and their families. The incident is a sobering reminder of the importance of prioritizing student safety and well-being.
