As a new academic term begins, a Kumasi-based journalist has stepped up to support children in rural schools with essential learning materials.

Aduanaba Kofi Ampong Emmanuel, host of the Morning Show on Mabesh FM, reached out to pupils in the Atwima Nwabiagya South and Atwima Mponua Districts, donating exercise books, pens, and pencils to help ease the burden on parents and guardians.

Beneficiary schools included Mpasatia Amadu D/A Basic School, African Faith Basic School in Mpasatia, Toase M/A, and Wioso Presby Basic A and B.

Speaking during the presentation, Aduanaba Kofi Ampong explained that the gesture was inspired by the plight of orphans and children from financially challenged families, who often struggle to afford basic educational supplies.

“Education is the foundation of every child’s future. My dream is to see underprivileged children smile and feel encouraged as they return to school. This is just the beginning; I will continue to reach out to more deprived communities,” he assured.

Headteachers and staff of the beneficiary schools warmly welcomed the support, describing it as a timely intervention that would motivate the children and relieve parents of some financial pressure. They also called on other well-meaning Ghanaians to emulate the journalist’s example in promoting quality education at the grassroots level.

The pupils, visibly excited, expressed their joy and gratitude, promising to put the items to good use as they embark on a new school year.

With this act of generosity, Aduanaba Kofi Ampong has not only provided much-needed supplies but also reinforced the message that media practitioners can be agents of social change beyond the microphone.
