The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedick, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, has officially launched an under-17 community football competition.

The initiative seeks to nurture and identify football talent among the youth, while also promoting unity, discipline, and community development through sports.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Sedick disclosed that preparations are underway to assemble a strong district team that will represent Ahafo Ano South West at the Ashantifest Games 2026.

He further emphasized that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government remains committed to the empowerment of young people through sports, education, and entrepreneurship, fulfilling key promises made during the 2024 election campaign.

“This tournament is not just about football; it is about building the future of our young people and giving them opportunities to shine,” he said.

The U-17 community football competition has been widely welcomed by community leaders, parents, and the youth, who believe it will inspire a new wave of talent and keep young people positively engaged.
