Residents of Tweapease-Aboo in the Ashanti Region have been left in shock and fear following the arrest of two young men allegedly involved in the murder and robbery of 20-year-old Kofi Mensah.
The suspects, identified as Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye, were arrested through intelligence-led police operations after several days of meticulous investigation by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command.
How the Crime Happened
According to police reports, the two suspects attacked and killed the victim on October 6, 2025, and escaped with his Haojin motorbike. However, their luck ran out when Solomon Opoku attempted to sell the stolen motorbike at Council Quarters, Obuasi, leading to his arrest.
Further investigations led officers to Kokotesua, another suburb of Obuasi, where Collins Aboagye, the second suspect, was apprehended. Both men have confessed to the crime, and the stolen motorbike has since been retrieved.
Suspects Face Justice
Police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and were arraigned before court on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Addressing the media on behalf of the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, the Regional 2i/C, ACP Cephus Arthur, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and upholding the rule of law.
“We will not rest until every community in the region is safe,” he assured.
ACP Arthur also cautioned the public against instant justice, urging residents to allow the law to take its course to promote peace, fairness, and stability.
“Let’s trust the system and give the law space to operate effectively,” he added.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has once again demonstrated its dedication to community safety, vowing to continue proactive operations to dismantle criminal networks and ensure justice for victims across the region.
