Officials of MTN Ghana coincided the Valentine’s Day celebration with blood donation exercise in Ashanti Region at Prempeh College on Wednesday, 14th February, 2024.

It was this year’s (2024) edition of the annual MTN “Save A Life Campaign” Blood Donation Exercise, aimed at ensuring that blood banks of health institutions in Ghana are adequately stocked to provide critical health care to patients.

Students of Prempeh College; one of the designated centers for the exercise in the region plus teachers and staff of MTN turned up in their numbers to donate their blood.

Beneficiary health institutions for the donation was the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

“I feel fulfilled giving a part of me out to save the life of another person”, Yann Kesse- a 3rd year Science student of the college said.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the exercise, Nii Adotey Mingle-General Manager (Sales) in Charge of the Northern Sector underscored holding the the exercise on Valentine’s Day as a strategic approach, explaining that the occasion is about love, hence the need to create a platform for others to show their love by donating blood to save life.

He mentioned that the initiative has been carried out for the past 13 years since 2011.

Nii Adotey said their target is to do 6,000 units of blood nationwide this year, hoping to stretch the figure to 7,000.

He informed the media in a further indication that MTN has done 26,000 units of blood from the year 2011 to date.

Dr. Lesley Osei – Head of Transfusion Medicine Unit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital thanked officials of MTN for the support.

“For the past 13 years they (MTN officials) have been helping us and their help can’t be quantified . It is far reaching”, she remarked in an interview.
