Green Ghana Project:75 Percent Of Trees Survived-Ash Reg Manager Reveals:

The Ashanti regional manager of the forestry commission,Mr Clement Amoh Omari at a press conference today called for the effort of the general public to support the Fight against Illegal Mining, logging Activities since one man cannot fight it all.

According to him, illegal mining activities and illegal logging as well as bushfires have been affecting their efforts to preserve the forest reserves.

The Activities of menace has been reduced through their awareness creation, more efforts have to be taken to flush out illegal activities in the forest,he said.

Preserving the forest reserve, he said, is not the duty of the commission alone but a collective effort while calling for support to deal with the menace to sustain the forest reserves.

Addressing some media practitioners today ahead of year’s Green Ghana Day scheduled for tomorrow 7th June 2024,Mr Omari said out of the 2.3 million trees planted in the region last year, about seventy five(75%) percent of them survived.

The commission is expected to plant ten million trees nationwide whiles Ashanti region alone targeted to plant 2.5 million trees in the region this year which would be done in collaboration with Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, churches, school children, and other organisations.
