MTN Ghana Deepens Rural Engagement with “Y’elloCare-Connecting at the Root” in Donkorkrom:
MTN Ghana has taken its community impact efforts to new heights through a powerful rural engagement initiative in Donkorkrom, as part of its 2025 “21 Days of Y’ello Care” campaign.
Under the theme “Connecting at the Root,” the telecom giant shifted from traditional outreach to a collaborative, hands-on approach,co-creating solutions with the people of Donkorkrom rather than prescribing them.
Empowering Through Technology and Skills,volunteers from MTN Ghana worked closely with local residents, delivering practical support in three key areas such as Digital skills training,Financial & Business Literacy and Smart Farming Techniques.
Equipping youth and adults with vital ICT skills to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
Training in mobile money, online business tools, and developing a strong online presence.
Introducing digital solutions to modernize agriculture and improve yields.
The initiative directly targets digital exclusion in underserved areas, ensuring rural communities are not left behind in Ghana’s digital transformation.
On the Ground,Senior MTN officials including Chief Executive Officer,Stephen Blewett, Northern Sector,the General Manager, Nii Adotey Mingle, and Senior Manager Simon Amoh participated in the initiative, emphasizing the company’s belief in grassroots development.
“Development that lasts is built with community participation,” said CEO Stephen Blewett, reinforcing MTN’s shift toward people-first development.
The Donkorkrom project forms part of MTN Ghana’s broader mission to connect underserved communities across all 16 regions of the country. The MTN Ghana is intend prioritizing co-creation and collaboration, the model promises sustainable, scalable impact that other rural areas can adopt.
This marks a strategic shift in MTN Ghana’s approach from one-time charity to long-term community partnerships. It also reaffirms MTN’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering Ghanaians at the grassroots level.
