Three Prison Officers Missing From Nsawam Headquarters

Nsawam — Three prison officers attached to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons in the Eastern Region have been reported missing, raising serious concerns among colleagues and authorities.

The missing officers — Lance Corporal Owusu Abena Elizabeth (No. 11889), Lance Corporal Tettey Narh (No. 12275), and Lance Corporal Tahiru Khadija (No. 13756) — have failed to report for duty for several months.

“Lance Corporal Owusu Abena Elizabeth was detailed for the main shift at the prison hospital on December 2, 2022, but never showed up,” one senior officer disclosed.

Lance Corporal Tettey Narh was granted leave on April 20, 2023, and was expected to resume duties on May 22, 2023, but failed to return. Similarly, Lance Corporal Tahiru Khadija was excused on 30 days’ sick leave on June 23, 2023, but never resumed work after her leave ended on July 24, 2023.

Deputy Director of Prisons and Eastern Regional Commander of Prisons, Patrick Thomas Seidu, confirmed the development. “We have exhausted all avenues to trace them,” he stated. “The matter has been reported to the police, and we are pleading with the general public to assist us.”

Mr. Seidu also urged anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact the Prisons Headquarters on 0544-89-92-72 or 021-76-00-93.
