Kumasi-based journalist, Samuel Ofori Boateng, has made a significant contribution to education by donating thousands of mathematical sets to final-year Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in selected communities.
The exercise, which benefited schools in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, including Manso Atobrakrom (Mpranease), Omanadwareɛ, and Nnanhin, aims to support candidates preparing for the 2026 BECE.

The initiative forms part of Mr. Ofori Boateng’s broader commitment to promoting quality education and easing the burden on students in underserved communities.
In addition to the math sets, he distributed exercise books, pens, and pencils to Form Two students and kindergarten pupils to further support teaching and learning.

He also donated school uniforms to vulnerable and underprivileged children, a move expected to improve attendance and boost the confidence of beneficiaries.
To encourage academic excellence, Mr. Ofori Boateng announced a scholarship package for BECE candidates who obtain aggregate scores between 6 and 9.
The package will cover essential items such as chop boxes, trunks, and mattresses to support their transition to senior high school.
He, however, raised concerns about poor infrastructure, lack of ICT labs, inadequate teachers, and sanitation challenges, urging government and stakeholders to intervene to improve conditions in rural schools.
