KWADASO MP KINGSLEY NYARKO CHALLENGES AKWATIA MP TO APOLOGISE TO TEACHERS; WARNS OF POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES

Prof. Kingsley Nyarko says teachers deserve equal respect as lawyers and health professionals, insisting that the Akwatia MP, Hon. Bernard Bediako-Baidoo, must publicly render an unqualified apology for his alleged insulting remarks against teachers.
The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency,Hon. Professor Kingsley Nyarko, has challenged his colleague MP for Akwatia, Hon.Lawyer Bernard Bediako-Baidoo,to immediately issue an unqualified public apology to teachers across the country over remarks he described as insulting and disrespectful to the teaching profession.
The comments follow a heated live television debate involving the National Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Miracles Aboagye, and the Akwatia MP, Hon.Bernard Bediako-Baidoo, during which remarks concerning teachers reportedly generated widespread public controversy.
Prof.Kingsley Nyarko made his position known during an engagement with some senior media practitioners in Kumasi,on the sidelines of a free breast cancer screening exercise organised for constituents of the Kwadaso Constituency.
According to the Kwadaso MP,the time has come for Ghanaians, particularly political leaders,to abandon the narrative that teaching is an inferior or less respected profession.
He stressed that teachers play an indispensable role in national development and deserve the same level of recognition, dignity and respect accorded to professionals such as lawyers, medical practitioners and other distinguished members of society.
He further urged Hon.Bernard Bediako-Baidoo to demonstrate leadership and maturity by publicly apologising to teachers rather than allowing the controversy to linger.
Prof.Nyarko also criticised his colleague MP for what he described as attempts to defend the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President John Dramani Mahama with what he termed falsehoods.

He cautioned that Hon. Bediako-Baidoo risked jeopardising his political future if he continued along what he considered an unproductive political path, suggesting that his own public statements could ultimately contribute to an untimely end to his political journey.
Meanwhile,Prof. Kingsley Nyarko showered praise on the NPP National Communications Director, Mr. Miracles Aboagye, describing him as competent, vibrant, articulate and fact-driven.
He further characterised Miracles Aboagye as one of the few outstanding communication directors in the country, commending his approach to political communication and public engagement.
The Kwadaso MP’s intervention has added another dimension to the growing public debate over the need to protect the dignity of teachers and uphold respect for the teaching profession in Ghana.
