    Amansie Central Breathes New Life into Healthcare as Refurbished Jacobu Health Center Opens to the Public

     

    Abandoned Court Building Transformed into Modern Health Facility, Bringing Quality Healthcare and Emergency Services Closer to Thousands of Residents

    The Amansie Central District Assembly has officially commissioned and handed over the newly refurbished Jacobu Health Center, marking a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Jacobu and its surrounding communities.

    The commissioning ceremony,held on Tuesday, August 4,2026, brought together traditional leaders, government officials, health professionals, assembly members and residents,who described the project as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the district.

    The modern health facility was reconstructed from the town’s abandoned old court building, giving the once-neglected structure a new purpose as a center for healing and lifesaving medical services.

    Speaking at the ceremony,the District Chief Executive for Amansie Central,Hon. Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, said the project reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to primary healthcare under its Free Primary Healthcare agenda.

    He described the transformation as “a historic rebirth,” explaining that a building once associated with justice has now become a sanctuary for healing and hope.

    According to the DCE,the Jacobu Health Center represents the government’s determination to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to every citizen, regardless of where they live.

    Hon. Obeng Agyemang further announced that the facility has been equipped with a fully operational ambulance service to strengthen emergency response and ensure timely transportation of patients requiring specialized medical attention.

    The District Director of Health Services,Dr.Oppong Aprem Twum,said the establishment of the health center would significantly reduce the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances to Bekwai and other neighboring towns to access healthcare.

    He disclosed that 17 healthcare professionals have already been deployed to the facility to provide quality medical services, adding that pregnant women,nursing mothers and other vulnerable groups will now receive timely healthcare within their own community.

    Dr. Twum expressed confidence that the new facility would improve maternal and child healthcare outcomes while enhancing the overall quality of health services across the district.

    The Chief of Jacobu, Nana Adu Darko III, expressed profound appreciation to the Government, the District Chief Executive and the Amansie Central District Assembly for delivering what he described as a life-changing project for the community.

    He assured the authorities that the traditional leadership would work closely with the management of the facility to protect and maintain the health center for the benefit of future generations.

    The newly commissioned Jacobu Health Center comprises male and female wards,antenatal care (ANC) and labour wards,consulting rooms, a laboratory,records and accounts offices,as well as an ambulance service station,making it a comprehensive primary healthcare facility.

    The event was attended by representatives of the Ashanti Regional Minister,Dr.Frank Amoakohene, assembly members,heads of departments,health professionals,traditional authorities and residents,all of whom praised the initiative as a transformative investment in the health and wellbeing of the people of Amansie Central.

    With the commissioning of the Jacobu Health Center,residents are expected to enjoy improved access to healthcare,faster emergency response and enhanced medical services,reinforcing the district’s commitment to building a healthier and more resilient community.
