Kwadaso MCE Commissions CHPS Compound at Nyankyerenease to Bring Healthcare to Residents’ Doorsteps
Hon. Eric Assibey outlines plans to extend healthcare infrastructure to other communities as Health Director appeals for additional support

Efforts to improve access to quality healthcare in the Kwadaso Municipality have received a major boost following the commissioning and handing over of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Nyankyerenease.
The facility,which is expected to bring essential healthcare services closer to residents,was commissioned by the Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE),Honourable Eric Assibey,in collaboration with the Municipal Health Directorate and traditional authorities.
The initiative forms part of efforts to decentralise healthcare delivery and ensure that residents,particularly those in communities located far from major health facilities,can access basic medical services within their communities.
Healthcare at Residents’ Doorsteps
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony,Hon.Eric Assibey said improving access to quality healthcare remains one of his major priorities as Municipal Chief Executive.
He explained that the establishment of the CHPS Compound at Nyankyerenease was intended to address a longstanding challenge confronting residents who previously had to travel considerable distances to seek medical attention.
According to him,residents in the Nyankyerenease area had often been compelled to travel to health facilities at Apatrapa and Suntreso to access certain medical services,a situation he said could create difficulties, particularly for pregnant women,children,the elderly and other vulnerable residents.
He said the new facility would therefore help reduce the burden on residents while promoting early access to healthcare services.
Hon.Assibey further disclosed that efforts were underway to extend similar healthcare interventions to other communities within the municipality,including Kwadaso Proper,Asuoyeboa,Atwima Takyiman and other underserved areas.
He stressed that his administration would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to identify healthcare gaps and mobilise the necessary support to improve healthcare delivery across the municipality.
Health Directorate Commends Government
The Kwadaso Municipal Director of Health Services,Madam Grace Billi,expressed appreciation to the government and the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly for providing the facility to support healthcare delivery in the area.
She particularly commended the NDC government and Hon.Eric Assibey for their contribution towards bringing healthcare services closer to residents.
Madam Billi assured the people of Nyankyerenease that health professionals assigned to the facility were committed to providing quality and responsive services.
She said the health workers were determined to make a positive impact in the lives of residents by delivering professional healthcare services and educating the community on preventive healthcare.
However,she appealed for additional logistics,equipment and other essential facilities to enable health professionals to work effectively.
According to her,continued investment and support would help the Health Directorate expand its services and make healthcare delivery more accessible and efficient throughout the Kwadaso Municipality.
Nkosuohene Calls for More Government Support
The Nyankyerenease Nkosuohene,Nana Adu Gyamfi Kamanin Barima Kese I,commended Hon.Eric Assibey and the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly for the initiative.
He described the establishment of the CHPS Compound as an important intervention that would benefit residents and reduce the distance they have to travel to seek medical care.
Nana Adu Gyamfi Kamanin Barima Kese I called on other Metropolitan,Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to emulate initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of their constituents.
He also appealed to the government and other stakeholders to provide further support to the facility so that healthcare services could become more affordable and accessible to residents.
The traditional leader expressed the hope that,with continued government and stakeholder support,measures could eventually be introduced to make essential healthcare services more affordable,particularly for vulnerable residents in Nyankyerenease.
Stakeholders Rally Behind Improved Healthcare
The commissioning ceremony brought together the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate, health officials,traditional authorities,clergy, residents,representatives of the Municipal Assembly and party faithful,among other stakeholders.
The stakeholders used the occasion to emphasise the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure at the community level and ensuring that residents have timely access to quality medical services.
The commissioning of the Nyankyerenease CHPS Compound is expected to contribute to the decentralisation of healthcare services within the municipality while reducing the pressure on major health facilities serving communities in and around Kwadaso.
Residents expressed appreciation for the intervention and called for sustained investment in healthcare infrastructure,equipment and personnel to ensure that the facility achieves its intended purpose.
