Concerned NPP Communicators Tear Into Justin Koduah Over ‘Most Suffered’ Claim

Tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have escalated sharply after a group known as the Concerned NPP Communicators launched a blistering attack on the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, over what they describe as “deceptive and self-serving propaganda.”

The group’s anger follows comments made by Mr. Koduah on “Dwabrem,” a political programme on Kumasi-based OTEC FM, where he reportedly claimed he is the most suffered General Secretary in the history of the party.

In his remarks, he attributed his challenges to the ill health of the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, arguing that the situation deprived him of crucial support and left him to absorb the backlash from the NPP’s 2024 electoral defeat.

But in a sharply worded statement copied to the office of Modern Ghana Online on Tuesday, the Concerned NPP Communicators dismissed the claim as “a palpable lie” and an “orchestrated attempt to milk sympathy” from party delegates ahead of internal elections.

“This is not suffering; this is failure,” Daniel Kwaku Frimpong , Spokesperson for the group charged, insisting that Mr. Koduah cannot rewrite history to portray himself as a victim when, in their view, he presided over one of the party’s most embarrassing electoral performances.

Daniel Kwaku Frimpong further rejected what they described as a “dangerous narrative” suggesting that the Chairman’s indisposition left a leadership vacuum.

They stressed that the NPP’s constitution provides clear lines of authority, naming 1st Vice Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, 2nd Vice Chairperson Madam Rita Asobayire, and 3rd Vice Chairman Alhaji Masawudu Osman as capable officers mandated to act in the Chairman’s absence.

“Is the General Secretary now telling the party that these national executives were irrelevant?” the statement fumed. “Or is he subtly branding them as incompetent just to sanitize his own shortcomings?”

According to the group, Mr. Koduah’s comments amount to an indirect attack on his own colleagues and a calculated bid to elevate himself at their expense.

They argue that rather than accept responsibility for the party’s defeat, he is seeking a convenient scapegoat and attempting to reposition himself as a martyr.

The statement concludes with a warning that party faithful will not be swayed by what it calls “emotional blackmail,” urging delegates to scrutinize what it described as an attempt to “weaponize sympathy for political survival.”

The deepening rift signals a brewing internal showdown within the NPP as the party regroups after its 2024 loss and prepares for what is expected to be a fiercely contested internal reorganization.
