DKM SPEAKS ON GALAMSEY FIGHT;Ban on GALAMSEY a Suicidal to Ghana’s Driving Economy

Hon Daniel Kwaku Mensah widely known as DKM,National vice president,Responsible small scale minners Association has stepped in the fight against illegal small scale mining activities said,given an optimal investment climate and enhanced exporation activities,Ghana has unique opportunity of maintaining it’s position as an attractive mining investment mining destination.

Notwithstanding the significant challenges confronting mining industry are deforestation,water and land pollution among others.

According to him,should the governing New Patriotic Party-NPP fail to reconsider plans in fighting illegal mining,the situation will turn a canker around their neck in this crucial Mining has brought more benefits than harm.

Any false attempt to fight illegal mining activities publicly known as GALAMSEY in some mining areas will worse the current economic hardship facing the country.Mining alone can manage and transform our economic distress should the ruling government put up precautionary measures to regulate all the activities like both legal and illegal small scale mining activities,he said.

Mr Daniel Mensah, emphatically stated that,Illegal small scale mining has brought more good than harm.He mentioned that it has reduced high robbery incidents,reduced unemployment rate in the country,because the said exercise has obviously creating more jobs to the people most especially,the youth.
