MTN Ghana Foundation Awards 200 Deserving Students With Scholarships:

The MTN Ghana Foundation is pleased to announce that, as part of its Bright Scholarship initiative, 200 scholarships have been given to students enrolled in public tertiary institutions. For the duration of the academic year and while they are enrolled at their respective colleges, these outstanding students will receive complete tuition, housing, and stipends.

At a ceremony held at MTN House in Accra to award the scholarships to the students, Stephen Blewett, CEO of MTN Ghana, counseled the recipients to seize the chance that had been given to them.

He made a point of saying that the scholarships represent an investment in their hopes, potential, and a brighter future rather than merely a means of assistance. He expressed delight about how each winner will make the most of the chance to enhance their studies, achieve their objectives, and make a meaningful contribution to society.

The Ministry of Education’s Director for Pre-Tertiary Education, who was the special guest of honor, praised MTN for taking the initiative and for setting up a platform to assist the nation’s underprivileged youngsters. He exhorted the scholarship recipients to set lofty goals and utilize their awards wisely.

Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager, oversaw a comparable award presentation for the MTN Ghana Foundation in Kumasi.

The MTN Bright Scholarship is an initiative by the MTN Ghana Foundation that provides financial assistance to needy and brilliant students in public tertiary institutions. Scholars are selected annually from all 16 regions of Ghana through a rigorous nationwide selection process, with selections made by an independent panel.

The selections reflect MTN’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Out of the 2499 students who applied, 400 were shortlisted for interviews, and 200 successful students have been selected for the scholarship award including 20 students living with disabilities. Among the recipients, 111 are males and 89 are females.

Various dignitaries attended the MTN Bright Scholarship presentation ceremony, including Lydia Nyarko Dankwah, Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Ghana, Eric Yaw Alade, Head of Student Services and Records, University of Ghana, Nana Baffour Awuah, Director for Pre-Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Executives of MTN Ghana, Bright Scholarship Jury, and NUGS President.

Since its founding, Scancom Plc has offered scholarships to more than a thousand students. A refreshed version of the MTN Bright Scholarship was introduced in 2016 to commemorate MTN Ghana’s 20th anniversary. In the course of the festivities, MTN made a commitment to provide 300 scholarships over the course of three years via the MTN Ghana Foundation.

The MTN Ghana Foundation decided to extend the scholarship program in 2021 at MTN’s 25th anniversary celebration after taking the scholarship’s effects into account after the first three years.
