MYSTERY IN KUMASI: Police Probe Unnatural Death of Young Senegalese National
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the mysterious death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national identified as Cheith Toure, whose body was found and deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo, Kumasi.
According to a police statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, initial investigations revealed that the deceased was conveyed to the mortuary by a man identified only as Issah, who claimed to be Toure’s brother.
Police sources indicate that on October 16, 2025, the said Issah rushed the young man to the Manhyia Government Hospital, claiming he had been involved in an accident. However, hospital authorities later confirmed that Toure was brought in dead, with visible abdominal injuries suggesting foul play.
“Every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Toure’s death,” the Police Command assured in the release.
The police are appealing to the public for information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the Ashanti Regional CID or reach out via the police hotlines 18555, 191, or 112, or call the investigating officer directly on 0248483741.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary pending further investigation.
