Sekyere Kumawu Rises for Monthly Clean-Up Drive

Sekyere Kumawu District has launched a monthly clean-up campaign to keep the district clean and healthy. The exercise takes place on the first Saturday of every month and has quickly become a rallying point for residents.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, communities turned out in their numbers, armed with brooms, rakes, and new energy to tidy their surroundings. Groups were formed across the district under the leadership of assembly members, unit committee leaders, and traditional authorities (Nananom).

The clean-up recorded strong support from institutions, with the Kumawu Ambulance Service, the Police, and other security agencies joining residents to sweep and desilt public spaces.

District Chief Executive Hon. Kwasi Amankwa praised the community’s spirit and called on participants to extend the campaign to their homes and neighbors. He reminded all that “a clean environment is the bedrock of healthy living.”

District Coordinating Director Mr. Emmanuel Appia-Kubi, who took part in the exercise at Kumawu Oyoko, urged the youth to embrace discipline in sanitation and avoid littering public spaces.

District Environmental Health Director Mr. Richard Adams also encouraged residents to report improper waste disposal, stressing that irresponsible dumping will no longer be tolerated.

The initiative is already creating unity and a renewed sense of responsibility, positioning Sekyere Kumawu as a model for communal sanitation in the Ashanti Region.
