Tontokrom Military Clash: NDC’s Isham Alhassan Claims Sabotage, Clears Ashanti Regional Minister of Involvement
The recent violent confrontation between armed military personnel and residents of Tontokrom in the Amansie South District has sparked heated political debate, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) raising concerns over what they describe as an act of sabotage.
Speaking on Ezra FM’s Adehyee Morning Show hosted by Rev. Kofi Asante Annin, NDC’s Isham Alhassan stated that the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who also doubles as the head of the Regional Security Council, was completely unaware of the military deployment.
According to Isham a prominent and vibrant regional executive member, the Minister remains “innocent and blameless” in the matter, stressing that the deployment of armed troops to Tontokrom without his knowledge raises suspicions of sabotage.
He further assured residents of Tontokrom and Ghanaians at large that the NDC remains committed to safeguarding peace and unity in the area. “We will do everything possible to restore calm and protect the people of Tontokrom,” Isham added.
