Deputy Health Minister Calls for Higher Ethical Standards in Assisted Reproductive Technology

Deputy Health Minister, Hon. Adeleide Yaa Agyeiwaa Ntim, has emphasized the need for higher ethical standards among professionals in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).

Speaking at the 7th Annual General and Scientific Conference of Fertility Society of Ghana (FERSOG) in Kumasi, she stressed that every clinic, practitioner, and decision-making body in the ART field must adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Assisted Reproductive Technology involves manipulating eggs, sperm, or embryos to increase the chances of successful pregnancy.

This fertility treatment has helped many individuals and couples conceive, but it also raises important ethical considerations.

Hon. Ntim’s call to action comes as stakeholders in the health sector gather to discuss ART under the theme “Safety of Art Therapies In Ghana; The Role of Stakeholders.”

She added that, promoting higher ethical standards, Ghana can ensure effective healthcare delivery and safe, responsible use of ART.

The conference brought together experts to share knowledge and best practices, addressing concerns and challenges in ART.

As Ghana continues to advance in reproductive healthcare, Hon. Ntim’s emphasis on ethics will guide the industry toward excellence and accountability.
