Ashanti REGSEC Imposes Night Motorbike Ban, Halts Football Tournament Amid Rising Violence
The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has imposed strict measures to restore peace following recent violent clashes.
Night Motorbike Ban: Effective immediately, all motorbike use after 7:00 p.m. is banned. Unlicensed bikes and those without functional lights are also prohibited.
Football Tournament Suspended: An ongoing inter-tribal football competition has been put on hold to prevent further tensions.
Additional Restrictions: Motorbike riders are banned from wearing smocks, which can conceal weapons.
Security Presence: Police and military teams have been deployed to protect lives, property, and maintain order.
Call for Public Cooperation: Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene urged residents to stay calm, support security efforts, and provide credible intelligence to help arrest suspects.
REGSEC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the Ashanti Region and restoring peace.
