Bekwai MCE Leads Massive Sanitation Campaign to Promote Clean and Healthy Environment

As part of efforts to promote the Sanitation Day campaign, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Salifu Issaka, in collaboration with Assembly Members, volunteer groups, security agencies, and other key stakeholders, has led a massive clean-up exercise across Bekwai under the theme: “Let’s Clean, Green and Keep Bekwai Safe.”

The initiative aimed to enhance cleanliness across the municipality and ensure a healthier environment for all residents. The exercise witnessed enthusiastic participation from various segments of the community, including youth volunteers and personnel from the Ghana Police Service and other security outfits.

Speaking in an interview with www.dailywatchgh.com, Hon. Salifu Issaka underscored the importance of community involvement in the fight against poor sanitation. He emphasized that sanitation is a collective responsibility, stating “The fight against poor sanitation is not a one-man show. Government alone cannot do it all. We need every resident of Bekwai to get involved to make our community cleaner, greener, and safer.”

He further called on the general public to support the campaign, noting that consistent community participation will contribute significantly to improved public health and sustainable development in the municipality.

On his part, the Ashanti regional second vice Chairman for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sualihu Musah commended President John Dramani Mahama for his commitment to sanitation and development initiatives. He encouraged Ghanaians to continue having faith in the NDC’s leadership, assuring the public that,
“The NDC remains focused on resetting the country and building a better future for all. We urge Ghanaians not to lose hope.”

Mr. Musah also pledged the party’s continued support for local development activities and reaffirmed its commitment to working hand-in-hand with communities to improve living conditions.

The MCE concluded by hinting at plans to institutionalize the clean-up campaign as a regular event, ensuring that Bekwai continues to be a model of environmental cleanliness and civic responsibility.
