Bekwai MCE Sounds Alarm:Protect Our Forests, Save Our Future
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bekwai, Hon. Salifu Issaka, has issued a passionate call on stakeholders and the general public to rally behind government’s efforts to stop the destruction of forest reserves and water bodies.
He stressed that safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources is not just an environmental obligation but also a matter of survival, warning that illegal mining and harmful human activities are rapidly destroying fertile lands, polluting water bodies, and endangering future food security.
“Protecting our forests and lands is about protecting livelihoods, agriculture, and the very foundation of our existence. These resources are a priceless legacy for generations yet unborn,” he emphasized.
Hon. Issaka further urged traditional leaders, community members, security agencies, and civil society groups to unite and treat the fight against environmental degradation as a shared national responsibility.
He further assured residents of the Bekwai Municipality of his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the area remains clean, safe, and healthy in every aspect.
According to him, his administration will continue to roll out proactive measures, including intensified sanitation campaigns, improved waste management systems, and regular community clean-up exercises. He stressed that a healthy environment is the foundation for sustainable development, better living standards, and the well-being of future generations. The MCE therefore called on all households, businesses, and community leaders to actively support these initiatives, noting that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility.
