Galamsey Fight:Hon. Tony Yeboah-Asare Calls for National Policy to Combat Illegal Mining:

The former Presiding Member of the Atwima Kwanwoma District and former Assembly Member for the Nweneso No.1 Electoral Area in Ashanti region, Honourable Tony Kwadwo Yeboah-Asare has called for a non-partisan, national approach to tackling the growing menace of illegal mining in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with the media,Hon. Yeboah-Asare emphasized the urgent need for a well-coordinated national policy or plan to address illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

“There must be a national policy with stakeholder consultations that incorporates the views of the general public”.
He warned that failure to take decisive and inclusive action would lead to worsening land degradation, pollution of water bodies, and long-term environmental damage, which would ultimately affect generations to come.

“If we don’t act now, the level of land pollution will become worse and threaten the future of our next leaders,” he cautioned.

Hon.Yeboah-Asare made these remarks shortly after the dedication of newly constructed church building worth millions of Ghana cedis to the Sain Thereasah Roman Catholic Church at Nwineso No1, under the Obuasi Diocese in the Ashanti Region.

His gesture and comments have been widely appreciated by residents and stakeholders, who see his contributions as both physically and socially impactful.

“According to him, the suggested approach will help reduce or eliminate the unemployment rate among Ghanaians, particularly the youth, as the problem continues to worsen across the country.”

“He believes that the proposed approach will significantly reduce, if not eliminate, the overall unemployment rate among Ghanaians particularly the youth,as the issue continues to grow in the country.”

“He maintains that the proposed approach has the potential to substantially reduce, or even eliminate, the overall unemployment rate among Ghanaians, particularly among the youth,as the challenge continues to escalate nationwide.”
