Green Ghana Project- Bekwai Forestry Division Hits target,Planted 180,000 trees:

The forth edition of Green Ghana Project,launched in 7th June this year,aiming to increase Ghana’s forest cover, mitigation climate change and preserving the environment and also seeks to educate citizens about the importance of environmental conservation.

The Bekwai District forestry service division in the Ashanti region led by it’s deputy district Manager,Mr Aikins Amponsah Paamah,Traditional authorities,Media Practitioners and other stakeholders of reforestation have planted a total of 180,000of various tree species in Forest reserves and off reserve site as well as in and arround Communities and all the twelve (12) political districts within it’s catchment areas.

Amansie West,Amansie South,Bosome Freho,Obuasi,Offinso among others were the beneficiary districts.

Addressing the gathering at a farming community called Hiay3ya in Amansie central district of Ashanti region under the theme “Growing for a greener tomorrow”,the deputy manager, reminded them to take Green Ghana initiative profitably on the fact that, it has come to come to stay to counteract deforestation and promote reforestation to impact generations.

He humbly called for the effort of participants to do their part as individuals to support country’s sustainable development goals.
He said time is due act as agents of change in ensuring Greening Ghana tomorrow is achievable.

The deputy manager again, admonished the all participated members and the general public to inculcate the value of planting and nurturing trees among the and encourage Community participation.A total of 166,650 tree seedlings comprising Mahogany,Odum,Ofram,Cedrela would at Numeredso and Hiay3ya reserved sites.

Explaining the positive aspect of a forth edition of Green Ghana initiative,he disclosed that all participating farmers have the opportunity to grow,harvest their food crops and tending for the trees at a time.

In attendance were,Queen of Denyaase Paramountcy,Nana Adutwiwaa Bonin III, Bekwai Municipal Chief executive,Hon KWAKU Kyei-Baffour,Chief, elders and entire Residents of Hiay3ya Communities in Amansie central district.
