MTN Ghana Hits the Brakes on Road Danger: Launches 2025 Staff Safety Drive

MTN Ghana is taking bold action to protect its employees on Ghana’s increasingly perilous roads, kicking off its first 2025 road safety training for drivers and staff in the Northern Sector.

The program, staged at MTN’s Nhyiaeso office in Kumasi, reflects the telecom giant’s commitment to making employee safety a top priority. Partnering with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, MTN is turning road safety from a regulatory requirement into a core part of its workplace culture.

Chief Superintendent Alexander Kwaku Obeng of the MTTD warned of the growing road danger, citing 11,000 crashes between January and October 2025. “Companies like MTN have a vital role to play in protecting staff who spend long hours on the road,” he said.

Safety First, Always

MTN’s biannual training, part of its Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) framework, equips staff with practical tools for defensive driving, hazard spotting, traffic law compliance, and vehicle upkeep. Every employee journey, whether transporting equipment or supporting field operations,is approached with safety at the forefront.

The company’s zero-tolerance policy for traffic violations, alongside its long-standing corporate road safety accolades, reinforces its pledge to staff welfare. Road safety is also now a mandatory part of induction for all new hires and a continuous development focus for drivers.

Protecting Lives Beyond the Office

By investing in road safety education and collaborating with expert authorities like the MTTD, MTN Ghana is ensuring that staff, customers, and the public share the roads safely. For MTN, a safer workplace isn’t optional,it’s essential.
