MTN’s Adwoa Wiafe to Champion Power of Communication in Building Africa’s Climate Resilience

As the world turns its attention to the upcoming UN Climate Conference in Brazil, all eyes in Africa are on the Africa Climate Communication Summit 2025, where Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, will deliver a powerful keynote.

Under the theme “Towards a Climate Resilient Africa through Strategic Communication”, the virtual summit will explore how words, stories, and media can spark real climate action across the continent.

Adwoa Wiafe, a recognized voice in corporate sustainability, has led MTN Ghana’s bold efforts to cut carbon emissions, embrace green technologies, champion inclusive community growth, and promote digital inclusion. In her address, she is expected to spotlight the private sector’s role in climate action, stressing that businesses can be a force for good when communication builds trust, understanding, and collaboration.

“Climate communication is more than just awareness; it is about mobilizing action,” Wiafe said ahead of the summit. “At MTN Ghana, we are committed to telling Africa’s climate story in a way that empowers people, protects the environment, and secures a sustainable future for generations to come.”

The summit will bring together storytellers, journalists, communication specialists, and creative minds from across Africa and beyond, including Benin, Mali, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom to share experiences and strategies for bridging the gap between science, policy, and everyday realities.

With Africa facing mounting climate risks but also brimming with innovation and resilience, the event seeks to ensure Africa’s narrative is told not as victims, but as leaders shaping a sustainable future.
