Stop the Fearmongering: Apostle Boakye Agyemang Hails Gov’t Prophecy Review Office, Warns Against Fake Revelations

The General Overseer of New Life Mission International Church, Apostle Solomon Boakye Agyemang, has thrown his support behind government’s bold move to regulate sensitive prophecies through the newly established Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations.

The initiative, announced on Sunday, August 10, 2025, by Presidential Envoy Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, will require religious leaders to submit prophecies with potential national impact for official review before going public. It covers messages relating to political leaders, governance, national security, and the stability of the nation.

Calling it a “positive step” to foster direct dialogue between faith leaders and the state, Apostle Agyemang said:

“It is good for the government to have such a ministry so that there can be direct communication with men of God.”

However, he issued a stern warning to ministers of the gospel not to exploit the process for self-promotion or profit. He condemned the rise of social media prophecy announcements, describing them as unbiblical and often driven by “cheap popularity” and monetary motives.

“Those prophets want cheap popularity in order to make money; that is why they normally go public with such announcements,” he remarked.

Apostle Agyemang also called for religious tolerance in Ghana’s diverse faith landscape:

“Everyone has his or her faith,Christians believe in God, Muslims believe in Mohammed, and Traditionalists believe in small gods. Nobody can force someone to believe what he doesn’t belong to.”

He urged the clergy to remain truthful, prayerful, and focused, while encouraging the public to test every prophecy against scripture and sound doctrine before embracing it.

The government maintains that the prophecy review initiative will help foster unity, reduce needless fear and tension, and safeguard Ghana’s national peace.
