Takorase Gets Sanitation Boost as Assembly Member Breaks Ground for Modern Toilet Facility

Takorase, Amansie South District- Residents of Takorase in the Ashanti Region can now look forward to improved sanitation following the sod-cutting ceremony for a 20-seater ultra-modern Water Closet (WC) toilet facility, spearheaded by their Assembly Member, Hon. Dominic Bonsu.

The project, valued at GH¢160,000 for its first phase, has been awarded to Hamisaac Company Limited and is expected to be completed within three months. Already, more than 4,300 blocks have been delivered to the site, signaling the contractor’s readiness to commence work without delay.

The colorful ceremony drew chiefs, elders, unit committee members, and excited residents. Traditional leaders performed libation and rituals to seek ancestral blessings for the successful execution of the project.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Bonsu described the initiative as a community-driven effort funded through his personal contribution and the support of Takorase residents.

“This is about dignity, health, and progress. With this facility, no one in Takorase should be forced into unsafe sanitation practices again. I am proud of the unity we have shown, because when we stand together, no challenge is too great,” he said.

Residents welcomed the project with joy, noting that the facility will finally address long-standing sanitation issues, particularly open defecation, which has exposed the community to health risks for years.

Community leaders lauded Hon. Bonsu’s commitment, describing him as a leader who translates promises into action.

Upon completion, the facility will not only improve hygiene and safeguard public health but also raise the standard of living in Takorase, representing a significant milestone in the community’s development journey.

Meanwhile, Hon. Bonsu revealed plans to donate hospital equipment to selected health centers across the Amansie South District, stressing that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of delivering quality healthcare.
