Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, will storm the Ashanti Region from September 10 to 12, 2025, as he intensifies his campaign ahead of the party’s crucial flagbearer primaries on January 31, 2026.

The three-day tour will take Dr. Bawumia through seven strategic operational zones, where he is expected to engage delegates, party executives, and grassroots members. His message will focus on unity, peace, and reconciliation as he seeks to consolidate support in the party’s stronghold.

The zones scheduled for the tour include Adansi, Amansie, Asante Akim, Sekyere-Kumawu, Afigya Kwabre, Nsuta-Mampong, Ahafo, Atwima, and the two Kumasi zones.

At each stop, Dr. Bawumia will meet with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs and CEOs, the Regional Council of Elders, and past executives. He is expected to officially inform them of his presidential bid while outlining his vision for the future of the party.

The itinerary will begin on Wednesday with visits to Adansi, Amansie, and Asante Akim. On Thursday, he will move to Sekyere Effiduase-Kumawu, Nsuta-Mampong, and Afigya Kwabre, before wrapping up on Friday with engagements in Ahafo, Atwima, and Kumasi.

Insiders say this initial tour is only a precursor to a more extensive campaign, where the former Vice President will descend to the grassroots level to meet Electoral Area Coordinators and polling station executives.

With the Ashanti Region widely seen as the decisive battleground for the NPP primaries, Dr. Bawumia’s visit is expected to galvanize party faithful and energize the base ahead of the contest.
