MTN CEO: AI, Coding and Innovation to Power the Next Wave of Telecom Growth
The future of Ghana’s telecommunications industry goes far beyond just making calls and browsing the internet. According to MTN Ghana’s CEO, Stephen Blewett, the real growth will come from Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and the creativity of young innovators.
Speaking on an Accra radio show, Mr. Blewett explained that while telecom networks provide the backbone for innovation, the real value lies in the platforms and solutions built on top of them.
“The real growth in telecoms won’t just come from providing connectivity. It will come from the platforms, solutions and innovations built on those networks. Think about it—Facebook, WhatsApp and Uber, none of these would exist without the network. That’s where the future lies,” he said.
He stressed that AI and coding are not just buzzwords but powerful drivers of economic and social transformation in Ghana. The telecom sector, he noted, will continue to play a central role in enabling other industries to thrive.
MTN Ghana is aligning with this vision through its Ambition 2025 strategy, which focuses on digital platforms, fintech innovation, and inclusive growth.
“At MTN, we’re not just chasing profits, we are chasing impact. Our goal is to create opportunities, to enable young people, businesses, and communities to thrive in a digital economy,” Mr. Blewett added.
As Ghana moves further into the digital era, MTN says it wants to empower the next generation of coders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to build solutions that will shape the country’s future.
