Break the All-Male Wall: COKA Demands More Women in Political Leadership
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), a leading voice in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has called on political parties to bridge the gender gap by appointing more women into leadership roles, especially when they are not elected.
He argued that male-only leadership structures are unfair and weaken the fight for gender equality. Drawing from his tenure as constituency chairman for Afigya Kwabre North, COKA revealed that he deliberately appointed women to leadership positions—an action that encouraged more female participation and strengthened inclusivity at the grassroots.
COKA stressed that empowering women in leadership is not just about representation but about ensuring fair decision-making and building a more inclusive society. He urged both political stakeholders and the public to support women leaders as active partners in national development.
