ECG Managing Director Assures Improved Power Supply, Intensifies Projects to End Outages

The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Engineer Kwame Kpekpena, has assured Ghanaians of improved and more reliable electricity service as the company rolls out strategic measures to tackle persistent power outages affecting homes and businesses across the country.
According to him, ECG has implemented a series of precautionary and corrective interventions aimed at minimizing frequent power cuts and stabilizing supply to support economic activities and daily life.
The Managing Director made these remarks during an inspection tour of key ongoing power infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region. The tour covered critical sites including the Ridge Substation, Ejisu (Emina), Fumesua, and Breman AbusuaKurowa.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of work, identify operational challenges, and ensure immediate solutions are implemented to fast-track project completion. He emphasized that these projects are essential in strengthening the region’s power distribution network and reducing the incidence of unplanned outages.
Engineer Kwame Kpekpena reiterated ECG’s commitment to delivering efficient and dependable electricity services, noting that the company is prioritizing investments in infrastructure to meet growing demand.
Supporting this commitment, the Head of Special Projects at ECG in Accra, Engineer Kwabena Bediako, highlighted ongoing efforts to expand capacity through additional power connections and system upgrades. He stressed the importance of creating alternative power supply routes to ensure uninterrupted service, particularly for customers in the Ashanti Region.
“We are working diligently to improve service delivery by enhancing our distribution network and providing backup supply options for our customers,” he stated.
Engineer Bediako further assured that all ongoing projects across the region will be completed soon, although he did not specify a timeline. He expressed confidence that the completion of these projects will significantly improve power stability and boost economic productivity in the region.
The ECG’s renewed focus on infrastructure development and service reliability comes at a time when many Ghanaians have raised concerns over recurring power outages, making the company’s intervention a critical step toward restoring public confidence in the country’s power distribution system.
