Christian Service University (CSU) has once again demonstrated that education goes beyond the classroom. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and annual outreach compassion program, the university has donated assorted essentials and food items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Edwenase Cheshire Home in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The gesture, described as a timely act of love and compassion, seeks to ease the daily burdens of vulnerable residents, most of whom are persons with disabilities, while putting smiles on their faces.

Presenting the items, which included bags of rice, soap, and other vital supplies, Pro Vice-Chancellor of CSU, Dr. Stephen Banahene, stressed that the donation was not merely an act of charity but a reflection of the university’s mission.

“Our faith requires us to connect with society and those in need. This is part of our annual outreach activities, and we remain determined to do the will of God,” Dr. Banahene noted.

For more than five decades, CSU has blended academic excellence with social responsibility, instilling in its students and staff values of service, compassion, and community impact.

Receiving the items on behalf of the facility, Ms Harriet Osei Wusu, Caretaker of the Edwenase Cheshire Home, expressed heartfelt gratitude to CSU for its support.

“We are grateful to CSU for this timely intervention. But beyond food, we urgently need vocational equipment and renovations to give residents a chance at self-reliance and better living conditions,” she appealed.

The Edwenase Cheshire Home, which caters to persons with disabilities, survives largely on public goodwill and donations. While CSU’s support brings great relief, the Home’s appeal highlights the urgent need for sustained and strategic assistance to empower residents and improve their quality of life.

CSU’s intervention not only provides immediate relief but also reinforces the broader call for collective social responsibility to ensure that no one especially the vulnerable is left behind.
