Kwahu Chief indebtedness; Stop escalating tensions, it’s a disgrace to the entire Kwahuman- Residents told:

Mr Barima Sakyi Oboba, a native of Kwahu in the Eastern Region, has expressed a big disappointment in some residents especially the youth, over the hula balloons created around their paramount chief.

According to him, calls by some aggrieved youth for the chief to be subjected to a severe punishment over his alleged indebtedness to the CEO of Prabhat Trading Limited, is uncalled for. Adding that the fact that the chief has made part payment to the CEO and having good relationship with him should tell the residents that there is no issue between them.

He said, even if it is well proven that the chief is indebted to someone, it does not qualify him as a criminal which must in turn resort to his imprisonment or removal as a chief.

He, has therefore urged the youth to desist from escalating the issue that similarly tarnishes the image of the entire Kwahu fraternity.

His call follows a brewing tension that is currently escalating and surrounding the Kwahu Paramount Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II over his alleged indebtedness to the CEO Prabhat Trading Limited.

“Let’s stop exposing our own chief to a public ridicule. It doesn’t auger a good image about us and our chief. The chief indebted to someone doesn’t make him a criminal. Besides, we should remember that the fact that the chief has already made made huge part payment to the CEO and is still having a good relationship with him, should tell the youth that there is no issue between them”. He said.

He has therefore called on them to rather direct their energy to an amicable process through which the issue can be resolved.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that, the Prabhat CEO had petitioned the office of the president over the chief’s alleged indebtedness to him.

Mr Barima Sakyi Oboba
who is displeased with the residents’ aggressive action against the chief said, it would be very good if the residents could stop the quick judgement against their own paramount chief.
